Three major rod shows over the next three weekends

At a time of the year when most collector car people have auctions on the brain, three major hot rod shows are set to take place over the next three weekends.
First, the San Francisco Rod, Custom and Motorcycle Show will take place January 12-14 at the Cow Palace in Daily City, California. This year’s show will honor Joe Bailon, the legendary hot rod and custom painter credited with inventing candy paints. For more information, visit www.sfcustomshow.com.

Next, Darryl Starbird will present his 50th annual Hall of Fame National Championship Rod and Custom Show January 19-21 at the Century II Convention Center in Wichita, Kansas. Though it will feature just 400 cars, versus the 1,000 expected in Starbird’s February Tulsa show (the one with the $20,000 grand prize), Starbird claims this show will include “the most bubble-topped cars seen under one roof.” For more information, visit www.darrylstarbird.com/showtime.htm.

Finally, the big one, the 58th annual Grand National Roadster Show, will take place January 26-28 at the L.A. County Fairplex in Pomona, California. All eyes in the hot rod world will be on the competitors for and winner of the America’s Most Beautiful Roadster award, complete with its $5,000 cash prize and nine-foot trophy.
